We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Financial Controller to join our Toronto team immediately.

Position Overview:
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of LANDinc. The ideal candidate will manage financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and internal controls. This role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and leadership abilities to support the company’s financial health and growth. The Controller will interface with senior management, external customers, and suppliers.

What you will be doing:
  • Oversee and manage the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Oversee and manage or co-manage Project budgeting and employee time keeping evaluating project budget vs actual reporting.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and oversee treasury functions.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Assist in financial decision-making for investments, cost-saving initiatives, and business expansion.
  • Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct material cost analysis, cost queries, standard costing, and trending.
  • Ensure accounting policies comply with relevant accounting standards and group policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all taxation and legislative requirements.
  • Address inconsistencies in reconciliations by taking remedial action or referring to relevant personnel.
  • Monitor and track the equipment register to ensure all company assets are accurately accounted for.
  • Manage annual audit documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate accounting and statistical data/reports, including financial analysis for the President.
  • Oversee quarterly and annual accounting/finance planning functions, including budgets and rolling cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure relevant information is communicated to direct reports, enabling them to effectively carry out their functions.
  • Assist with ad hoc requests.
What you bring along:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Accounting designation (CPA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the Design, Architecture or Engineering environment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with material cost analysis, cost queries, standard costing, and trending.
  • Strong Excel modeling skills, including experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and formulas.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Team player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to advocate new ideas.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
