We are seeking a Construction Administrator (Landscape Infrastructure Projects) to join our expanding Toronto team. In this role, you’ll collaborate with our multi disciplinary team on a wide range of projects, from public parks and urban spaces to waterfronts and large-scale developments, gaining valuable experience while contributing to impactful design work across the globe.
Position Overview
The Construction Administrator (Landscape Infrastructure Projects) plays a critical role in bridging the gap between design and implementation. This position oversees the construction phase of landscape architecture projects, ensuring that the design intent, quality standards, and technical specifications are realized in the field. Working closely with clients, contractors, and consultants, the Construction Administrator is responsible for managing communication, documentation, and quality control throughout all stages of construction.

What you will be doing:
Contract Administration
- Administer construction contracts in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., CCDC, OPSS, municipal requirements)
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Review contractor submissions including:
- Shop drawings
- Material samples
- Method statements
- Issue:
- Site Instructions (SIs)
- Contemplated Change Notices (CCNs)
- Change Orders (COs)
- Maintain detailed project records and documentation logs
- Conduct regular site visits to:
- Monitor construction progress
- Verify compliance with design intent and specifications
- Identify deficiencies and non-conforming work
- Prepare site reports with clear photographic documentation
- Coordinate deficiency reviews and track resolution
- Act as the primary liaison between:
- Contractor
- Client / Owner
- Design consultants (civil, structural, electrical, etc.)
- Internal design team
- Lead or participate in site meetings and progress meetings
- Facilitate timely resolution of RFIs (Requests for Information)
- Evaluate scope changes and provide recommendations
- Review contractor pricing for fairness and alignment with contract terms
- Track project budget impacts related to changes
- Support cost control and risk mitigation during construction
- Monitor construction schedules and milestones
- Identify potential delays and risks
- Work with contractor and team to maintain project timelines
- Review and certify contractor progress draws
- Verify quantities and percentage completion
- Ensure compliance with contract terms prior to payment approval
- Conduct substantial performance inspections
- Prepare deficiency lists and oversee completion
- Review as-built drawings and maintenance manuals
- Support final project closeout and handover to client
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
- Professional licensure as a Landscape Architect (or eligibility for licensure within 6 months).
- Solid experience in construction administration, preferably on large public projects and understanding of:
- Landscape construction methods
- Public infrastructure standards (municipal, provincial/state)
- Contract administration procedures
- Intermediate level: 7-10 years of construction administration or site observation roles.
- Senior level: 10-20+ years of construction administration or site observation roles.
- Experience working on large-scale urban, institutional, or infrastructure landscape projects
- Strong technical and detailing knowledge
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- High level of judgment and decision-making ability
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline
- Ability to manage complexity across multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and access to transportation for site visits.

- Intermediate level 7-10 years: $70,000 - $100,000
- Senior level 10-20 years: $90,000 - $160,000
